Well the end of the road came for Lakisha Jones on May 9th, but a brand new road will undoubtedly open up for this American Idol phenom, and we're prepared to watch her speed down that road to stardom.  Although Lakisha is gone, her fan club here at I Love Lakisha Jones is just beginning.  We'll be updating the site this weekend with brand new Idol coverage, and more on Lakisha Jones.

American Idol fan favorite Lakisha Jones, has, as Simon Cowell proclaimed "laid down the gauntlet".  And fans everywhere have to agree. This season's American Idol appears to be flooded with mediocre talent, led by only few serious standouts.  Lakisha Jones however, may be in a league of her own.  She belted it out in this year's American Idol auditions and then brought the crowd to its feet in preliminary Hollywood rounds.  As we think back to some of the most impressive auditions held in American Idol's past seasons, we've rarely seen a winning singer who wasn't powerful and impressive from the get go.  Simon Cowell says he knew Carrie Underwood was going to take the title from her very first audition.  Fans also saw contestants like Ruben Studdard, Kelly Clarkson, Bo Bice, Chris Daughtry, Fantasia Barrino look vocally dominant right from the initial tryout.  While Cowell and the other judges often have their eye for talent questioned and contested, we must admit that they spot the stronger contestants right off the bat.  We've seen very few finalists make it to the very end who weren't touted as potential Idol champs right from the start.  Lakisha Jones is no exception, and for that matter, either is Melinda Doolittle.  These two ladies came out firing right away, and we expect to see them stay the course in season six.

While our early male favorite, Brandon Rogers failed to live up to the hype in opening round competition of the final 24, and then departed immediately after round 1 of the top-12, we're looking at Blake Lewis and his fan appeal to be the last standing male in this year's competition.   Blake's got a look and ability that cannot be overlooked, and he proved it in his first performance among the final 24.   His beat boxing and scatting is pretty cool and we really like his style and charisma. 

Opening night for the ladies in the final round of 12 girls well outshone the guys from the night before, and with some power packed voices like Melinda Doolittle and Stephanie Edwards, The singer that packed the biggest punch was far and away Lakisha Jones.  If you like Jennifer Hudson, and you enjoyed her in Dreamgirls, then you don't have long to wait for the next American Idol finalist who can belt em out with the best of em.
