| Lakisha Jones is a 27-year-old single mother and bank employee who
originally from Flint, Michigan. Lakisha has always dreamed of making it
big in the music business, and we think she has the pipes to do just
that!
Now, Lakisha is one step closer thanks namely to
American Idol which has produced stars like Kelly Clarkson, Ruben
Studdard, Clay Aiken, Carrie Underwood, Fantasia Barrino - and has
been the springboard for growing, burgeoning careers of even more.
 Lakisha Jones, who bears a vocal and physical resemblance to Aretha Franklin, blew away American Idol Judges, Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson with Aretha Frankin's "Think" and "Until You Come Back to Me."
Even judge Simon Cowell smiled. "Love this girl," he said. "Love you, LaKisha. You're a good old-fashioned belter."
In her appearances on the show and a video posted on the American Idol website, Jones appears humble before the judges and enveloped in everything that is her family, especially her daughter, Brionne.
Lakisha says she most admires Whitney Houston and also closely identifies with Fantasia Barrino, a single mother and previous American Idol Champion from season three.
As American Idol continues its final rounds of competition and continues to trim the fat and mediocrity from the remaining 24, Jones has to be an early odds-on favorite.
We love the power and enthusiasm of
Melinda Doolittle as well, but based on what we've seen to date, Lakisha Jones can give any contestant, past or present, a run for his or her money.
